Presentation of the May 19th, 2018, 8 Hour AR

Notre-Dame du Laus , Outaouais QC

Event recap

What a nice day we had on May 19th in the Parc Regional du lac Poisson blanc area. The participants started off at 10:00 in a scramble trekking where teams had to navigate with a 1:8000 scale map on a hilly and interesting terrain including some marsh, sand pits and open fields. Runners had to come back to the start to pick up their bikes for the MTB section with 2 advanced CP's which added some distance and provided a good orienteering challenge. After that, teams tackled the Rapide du fort mountain for a magnificent trekking section with superb viewpoints and an a fairly impressive elevation. For the nautical section, mother nature added difficulty with rain and strong gusts of winds making paddling very challenging. The nautical section also included a boat drop to a swimming option which led to advanced trekking CP's and a dozen courageous teams took it up. The last CP of the race was on the hydroelectric dam with a superb view on the rapide du fort waterfall.

Congratulations to all team for an awesome race! Every team crossed the finish line with a sense of accomplishment and pride after completing this course which offered a very big challenge to the participants.

A big thanks to the people of Notre-Dame du Laus and Parc Régional du Poisson Blanc who provided us with a lot of support for the organization of this event. Also we would like to thank all of our sponsors (KEEN, ATMOSPHÈRE, VÉLO LA SHOPPE, IGA EXTRA FAMILLE PLANTE, CYCLE GM BERTRAND, MOBILONDE, MICRO-BRASSERIE DE LA LIÈVRE).

It would simply be impossible to organize such an event without the enthusiastic participation of numerous volunteers; special thanks to all of them for their contribution and for making this race a great success.

Special mention to the teams that helped other teams in trouble during the event. This kind of behavior reflects very well the spirit of good-companionship which is so present in Raid Pulse events.

See you next year for another great AR season.

Event video recap

For the first event of the 2018 season, the Raid Pulse team is proud to invite you to the Notre-Dame du Laus area for a thrilling adventure race. It's a wooded and hilly location with numerous beautiful lakes and MTB trails, ideal for an adventure race.

We've been there for the same event (8h) in the past and let me tell you that it is quite a playground for outdoor and adventure lovers. We have already done a few course recces and identified many mountain bike trails, superb lake locations, kilometres of forest and and trails for the trekking and orientation sections. Be assured that we will make you discover this area the Raid Pulse way so prepare yourself for an exciting adventure.

As usual, we want to offer a quality event in pristine nature including the three basic disciplines in adventure racing (trekking/bushwalking, paddling and mountain biking).

Teams must complete the course by reaching the various check points using the maps provided by Raid Pulse. During the regular course the navigation difficulty level will be accessible to all levels of experience (parts of the regular course will be marked). Of course, an experienced team should make fewer errors and complete the course more rapidly.

There will also be some advanced sections for teams that are looking for a bigger challenge with more technical navigation and added distance.
