Presentation of the May 20th, 2017, 8 Hour AR
Notre-Dame du Laus , Outaouais QC
Race story Winning team ''Gaétan des Bois''
Congratulations to all the teams for a great race! The weather was great and racers had a blast on a tough and challenging course in the Notre-Dame du Laus area. The paddling section on lac du Poisson Blanc was spectacular with its numerous islands surrounded with a mountainous landscape. The trekking section was proven to be the most challanging part of the event with some really tough terrain for the advanced check points and lots of climbing towards beautiful landscapes. The MTB section on the ATV trails was fast and helped teams to get rid of the black flies :). It was a unique and intense adventure. Crossing the finish line was an accomplishment in itself.
A big thanks to the people of Notre-Dame du Laus and Parc Régional du Poisson Blanc who provided us with a lot of support for the organization of this event. Also we would like to thank all of our sponsors (KEEN, ATMOSPHÈRE, VÉLO LA SHOPPE, IGA EXTRA FAMILLE PLANTE, CYCLE GM BERTRAND, MOBILONDE).
It would simply be impossible to organize such an event without the enthusiastic participation of numerous volunteers; special thanks to all of them for their contribution and for making this race a great success.
Special mention to the teams that helped other teams in trouble during the event. This kind of behavior reflects very well the spirit of good-companionship which is so present in Raid Pulse events.
See you next year for another great AR season.
Results of the event
For the first event of the 2017 season, the Raid Pulse team is proud to invite you to the Notre-Dame du Laus area for a thrilling adventure race. It's a wooded and hilly location with numerous beautiful lakes and MTB trails, ideal for an adventure race.
We've been there in 2011 for the same event (8h) and let me tell you that it is quite a playground for outdoor and adventure lovers. We have already done a few course recces and identified many mountain bike trails, superb lake locations, kilometres of forest and and trails for the trekking and orientation sections. Be assured that we will make you discover this area the Raid Pulse way so prepare yourself for an exciting adventure.
As usual, we want to offer a quality event in pristine nature including the three basic disciplines in adventure racing (trekking/bushwalking, paddling and mountain biking).
Teams must complete the course by reaching the various check points using the maps provided by Raid Pulse. During the regular course the navigation difficulty level will be accessible to all levels of experience (parts of the regular course will be marked). Of course, an experienced team should make fewer errors and complete the course more rapidly.
There will also be some advanced sections for teams that are looking for a bigger challenge with more technical navigation and added distance.
